In Homoeopathy, highly diluted substances derived from plants, minerals, or animals are used as remedies. These substances undergo a process called potentization, which involves dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking). Homoeopathic remedies are prepared in such a way that the original substance is diluted to the point where very few, if any, molecules of the original substance remain.
The underlying philosophy of Homoeopathy is that the diluted remedies stimulate the body's vital force or "self-healing" mechanism, promoting a natural healing response. Homoeopathic practitioners assess a person's physical, mental, and emotional symptoms to choose a remedy that matches the individual's unique symptom picture.
